The moon is this dance partner that we’ve now had for four and a half billion years. Both kinds of eclipses should remind us of the importance of our cosmic companion. We are part of a system. Eclipses are great reminders that we are not alone in space.” Noah Petro, planetary geologist with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, NASA.
Each moment dies
as a new moment is born.
Breath after breath
and each moment in between.
Our lives are knit
into stories
we wear
our stories
become our skin.
Etched with history,
illustrated with truth,
scars contract, pull tight.
Unrecognizable,
skin no longer seems to fit.
Deep within
below the scars of life experience
life force rises.
A caterpillar steps out
and sheds the old skin
again and again
in the cycle of life.
Lunar eclipse, Solar eclipse,
sun and moon in an ancient dance
again and again
in the cycle of life.
Each moment dies
as a new moment is born
again and again and again…

Eclipses and Surprises
Libra Lunar Eclipse

Mercury Retrograde in Aries April 1-25
Aries Solar Eclipse
April 8, 11:20 am PDT
Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus
April 21
Everything’s spiraling: Earth, Moon, Sun, Galaxy. We are in the Spiral Dance. Within the course of one month, two eclipses rock our world, followed by the Jupiter Uranus conjunction which occurs once every fourteen years.
Libra Lunar Eclipse
Our connection with others has everything to teach us now – from the most graceful and inspiring to the confrontational dregs of the past. The Libra Lunar Eclipse magnifies intentions in all our relationships. Eclipses always illuminate shadow, the place where denial resides. Relationship. Justice. Balance. Cooperation is the keyword here. Our foundation is personal integrity. Without that ground, all our relationships are even more fragile than we can admit.
Thus shadow owes its birth to light.” John Gay
Aries Solar Eclipse
One door closes and another opens. Endings and beginnings are hallmarks of eclipses. During a solar eclipse, the moon casts a shadow over the earth; the shadow of consequences of past actions, habits and addictions to opinions. The earth is shifting beneath our feet. Here we are, there is no turning back.
Be present with what is essential. Breathe, embody, open your mind without losing focus to endless distractions. The present time is a valuable place to be. Craft the tension to form your intentions.
The Aries Solar Eclipse is closely conjunct Chiron, bringing vulnerability to the surface and drawing attention towards the healing needed within us and in our world.
Mars (ruler of Aries) is closely conjunct Saturn (exact on April 10), an indicator of the heaviness that many are experiencing now. How may we be firmly grounded in the present and carry the weight of our responsibilities? Go slowly… yet the fire of Aries prefers to move quickly. There’s the rub. Ditto with Mercury retrograde in Aries: how to we deal with patience and impulsiveness? Complexities are highlighted during this eclipse passage- which may be uncomfortable, motivating or agitating. There are several awkward and edgy aspects during this time… so much going on, moving fast… Beware of trying to accomplish everything at once and missing out on important details.
In contrast, this eclipse is in a series of eclipses associated with inventiveness and flashes of genius. Intuitive leaps, insights and vivid dreams.
Feeling fierce and unfettered or irritated and burnt out? Solar eclipses also highlight the need for rest and replenishment as much as an eclipse in Aries impels us to freedom and action. Respect your instincts. Balance the long term with the here and now.
After the eclipse gauntlet, Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus comes along just in time, with enthusiasm and faith for the future. Scientific and technical breakthroughs. revolutions, political rebellions. What house holds the sign of Taurus in your natal chart? This area of your life is where you may experience flashes of insight, a surge of enthusiasm for growth, expansion, freedom and adventure. Even more if the conjunction is in close aspect to natal planets and points in your chart.
Jupiter conjunct Uranus will bring fabulous surprises to some people. Jupiter tends towards exaggeration. Uranus for the unexpected. In Taurus – extravagance, material gain, sensuality and indulgence perhaps. Really, these sorts of predictions are what the general public wants to hear from astrology! But there are bound to be some lucky breaks and crazy optimism going around. If you begin a new venture or are infused with a new vision, it might be off to an auspicious start or be a flash in the pan. It’s temporary, so give it some time to settle in and see what sticks.

How am I holding up mentally and physically to the stresses in my life?
How may I pace myself?
Am I willing to change?
What is the vision that I wish to translate into my present reality?
*Bonus Question: What was up for me around 2006, 1988 and/or 1970? (Eclipses in those years where in the same series as this Aries Solar Eclipse.)
Navigation in the Mystery
Your astrological chart is a potent pattern: it is the matrix that reveals how the planets speak within you. Prediction is a matter of looking down the river to interpret and sense the shape and flow of the journey ahead. Consult your celestial compass: What are the conditions and optimal ways to navigate? What are your possibilities and options?
