Lunar Eclipse Drama

January 9, 2020 By Jacqueline

Howl at the Moon by Julie Dillon 269x300 - Lunar Eclipse Drama
Howl at the Moon by Julie Dillon

Crazy moon.
World out of balance.
The dragon takes a bite out of the moon.
A shadow looms large where we expect illumination.
Howl at the moon!

It’s a new year. Time to be productive, get stuff done, move ahead.
There are edges, boundaries, and limits.
The shadow rises up, gets in the way.
Hungry shadow, demanding shadow.
Denial is no longer convenient.
Is there a price to be paid?

The dark ocean spits up a bottle
that holds an irresistible message that reads:
Pay Attention.

Even though every voice in your head tries to distract you from the truth…
an insistent glimmer of consciousness reels you tighter to focus:
Listen, this is important.
Complacency is a dead end.

Even though you may be grasping a thread
that is unraveling from the ground where you stand…
keep following to where it leads.

Even though you strain to focus through the twilight of distorted lens
and you are aching,
dis-empowered, split,
not knowing who or what to trust.

The karmic shadow bears a heavy weight.
Be brave and lay down the burden.
Reorient your center of gravity.
Remember your roots.
Calibrate your compass.
Stand up to your karmic shadow.
Welcome the clarity.
Choose integrity.

“Everything changes, everything is connected, pay attention.” Jane Hirshfield, Buddhism in Seven Words

Lunar Eclipse Cancer
January 10, 2020 11:21 am
Uranus Direct January 10
Saturn conjunct Pluto (and Mercury) January 12
Sun conjunct Saturn, Pluto, Mercury January 13

This is a challenging time with unique circumstances for each one of us individually and collectively. Complex. Lopsided.

It is natural to feel more sensitive than usual. There is a greater awareness of whether or not we feel “at home” within ourselves, our families, our relationships, our communities. Defensiveness is rampant as many are feeling vulnerable with a sense of being criticized or attacked.

The light of the Moon is partially eclipsed by the Earth. Earth’s shadow stands in front of the light. We see the world from a different perspective. Eclipses change the shape of perceived reality, often uncovering what’s been hidden. Our challenge is to incorporate the wildly shifting perspective.

It’s the time of year when the sun and moon reach their closest points to Earth, aligning the celestial bodies like a perfect cue shot to create maximum gravitation pull. (Severe weather forecast from SFGate). Tornadoes. King Tides bring flooding.

Uranus Direct

Additionally, Uranus’ station direct (retrograde since August 12, 2019) within hours of the eclipse magnifies restlessness, radical change and the unexpected. Again, this theme of the individual and the collective… it’s up to each one of us to grow from our roots and our history as we zoom into the future. This is a powerful turning point where we are confronted with decisions of whether to change course or what to cut out of our lives.

This is also in resonance with the major conjunction of Saturn and Pluto (previously occurred in 1982, 1947 & 1914) This time around it is inextricably tied in with the aforementioned components of the current design. Even if astrology is not your language the image of the celestial design commands attention.

Out with the old, in with the new. We must take a radical turn and step up to a greater evolution and awakening for a sustainable future.

“These mountains that you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb.” Najwa Zebian

The Inevitable

Our task is to deal with what has been stuffed, suppressed or buried, what we haven’t been able or willing to face.

The collective element is immense: our shared history, what traditions and ways of “doing business” are mainstream acceptable yet in reality shameful and harmful – involving slavery, abuse and destruction. The commodification of everything. Shameful waste. The hoarding of wealth. Now is the time to transform the Capricorn archetype. May we be stewards of the earth and respectful of all life and the generations ahead. May we take the mantle of power and responsibility with sober, reverent maturity.

The old Patriarchal power insists on building walls and barriers and the fresh blood is rising, unprecedented in diversity in this country, speaks for holding a more inclusive umbrella for the generations ahead.

This is a strong statement for maturity and steadfastness. Who carries the power of authority? Own it. It time for each of us to bear the responsibility to reshape our world. The call for security and control often gives rise to fear. Claim your boundaries. Own your authority and your responsibility for the generations ahead.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. 200x300 - Lunar Eclipse DramaInquiries and Contemplations

Where am I out of integrity in my life?

What are the unhealthy habits, people or props that hold me back?

What can I learn from my past?

What practical strategies or steps can I take to be in alignment with my values and work towards my aspirations?

What nourishes me?
