Play it safe.
Take a chance.
Watch your step.

Think again.
Reconsider, deliberate.
Toss the dice
and wing it.

Reassess your situation,
look carefully,
be prudent.
Flip a coin.

Contradictions escalate.
Caught in the cross-hairs
of agitation and restraint.

Draw your circle,

Leo New Moon

This year’s Leo New Moon coincides with Lammas, the ancient Celtic festival celebrating the beginning of harvest season. Lammas (Lughnasadh) is one of four traditional cross-quarter days that mark the height of the season. Sun and Moon land at the midpoint between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox, a prompt to take stock of our courage for change. Leo is a fixed sign (along with Taurus, Scorpio and Aquarius) and has great strength to persist and endure, but tends to resist change.

The pure essence of Leo is radiant self expression, playful creative abundance, confident, generous and entertaining. The shadow may manifest as egocentric, arrogant, over-bearing, extravagant, childish or melodramatic behavior.

The complexity of the current time is mirrored by the new moon design. Fiery Leo stands in opposition to the cool, stern and sober face of Saturn and square to unpredictable Uranus, highlighting the ongoing dilemmas of 2021.
Should I stay or Should I go?

Eclipse Sandwich – June 2021

On the other side of reality
the cracked sacrament of unconsciousness
is peeling away.

Confetti of distractions
stealing time.
Scattered ideas,
thoughts and threads of conversations,
polarization,
resonance,
and nonsense.

Constant craziness,

this world.

Precious life on
our jewel of green and blue
planet Earth.

On the other side of reality
the cracked sacrament of unconsciousness
is peeling away.

Eclipse glimpses beyond
the fragmenting mirror
where eternity and finitely meet:
the anvil altar of change.

Karma swings the hammer again and again,
the hammer rings awaken us
from the hypnotic trance
or yet be snared
in the spinning wheel again and again.

Mercury Retrograde is often considered as an annoying period of time we bear through for 4x each year. Back up your computer, don’t sign important contracts, beware of miscommunication. It has become a cliche. “Is Mercury Retrograde?” is a refrain heard anytime logical systems go awry.

Logic is only one function of our minds. It is one that we depend on and surely it has an important place in our culture. What else is there aside from logic?

Illogical is defined as lacking sense or sound reasoning, displaying a lack of sensibleness or good judgment, far fetched or impractical or unlikely to be believed.

Alternatives to logic are sensing, intuiting, and imagining.

Perhaps this curious passage is an opportunity to refocus the lens of reality. Versatility and flexibility help shift gears.

Delusional thoughts, fear, foggy thinking, mental disorientation is a risk. Although seeking logic during these surreal times may be fraught. Sensitivity is heightened. It may be tempting to hide, indulge in escapist behavior or become numb to the assaults of the world. Better to stay awake and gain insight into the subtle and unconscious dynamics of life.

Equinox! Refresh & Renew.

Deep in our bones live
the memories of our ancestors.
The rhythms of the seasons
resonate through the multitude of branches
of each family tree.

Now.
The rhythms of the seasons
are fragmented and unraveling,
no longer tied to weather patterns,
plant germination and animal migrations.
No longer in sync with rainfall and snowstorms
and heatwaves and cold streams that swirl around our planet.

Deep in our bones live
the memories of our ancestors.
Phases of the moon:
dark moon, half-moon, and bright moon,
travel through the storied constellations
night after night
after night,
each and every night for millennia.

Now.
We can still depend on
the sun and the moon,
on the cycles of the planets.
We are connected
to all of this.

Now.
The Equinox
the still point,
one breath, one brief moment,
a milestone of balance.

Affirm.
Each one of us
is a culmination,
a budding leaf tip,
a unique branch
of an ancient family tree.

We can still depend on
the instinctual wisdom
that hums from the heartwood
and flows through our lifeblood.
We are connected
to all of this.

Equinox. Refresh & Renew.
Begin again
and again and again.

The Equinox
the still point,
one breath, one brief moment,
a milestone of balance.

Soon the days will grow longer and already people are restless to spread their wings. “Between a Rock and a Lightning Bolt”, this year is a good time to break patterns, innovate and redesign how and where we’re going. The Equinox is a wise time to pause, reflect and engage with the here and now.

Between a rock and a lightning bolt.
Between the anchor and the razor’s edge.
Between caution and taking a risk.

Between a rigid limit and an open window.
Between the reliable and the unpredictable.
Between responsibility and independence.

Between a tap root and a shooting star.
Between the conformist and the contrary.
Between routine and innovation.

Between a tug of war and a balancing act.
Between the dull and the bizarre.
Between conservative and rebellious.

The immediacy and tension
of the jagged confines of this juncture,
between a past and a future.

Limitations loom large. Either we become aware of them or we are wrestling with dissatisfaction. Many feel boxed in by duties and responsibilities or feelings of guilt. Some believe their freedom and independence is being compromised or even taken away.

Goals may be disrupted by unexpected circumstances. There is an urge to get rid of responsibilities and routines or at least change them. It is a good time to break patterns, innovate and redesign how and where we’re going. Impatience demands immediate change, but is it wise to make irreversible alterations abruptly? Be aware of your intentions.

Coyote Leads the Way

“Coyotes move within a landscape of attentiveness.”

On the shortest day
of the year,
I saw two coyotes
before me on the path.
Those tricksters
leading the zigzag way.
Keen and alert
through the
Jupiter Saturn Portal.
Solstice Sparked 🌟

I welcome the Light!
My Mantra.
I welcome the Light!

“Zig-Zaggers/perfect walkers walk very carefully to conserve energy. Their rear paw/hoof will land in the spot where their front paw previously fell.”

Countless eyes lifted toward the sky.
Momentous Jupiter Saturn conjunction
shining bright upon
the twists and turns
of coyote path.
Aquarius,
the visionary,
the sign of times to come.
What lies ahead on the path?
We can only go forward.

Lumiarias 1 258x300 - Coyote Leads the Way On Christmas Eve,
I set up 70 luminarias on my street.
An offering of luminous lanterns.
Calling in the Light.

I watched…
With caution for
candlelight in the wind.

On my knees,
lighting
and relighting the luminarias
as the wind kicked up.

Remembering that Coyote stole fire to give to humans,
a piece of the sun to warm our winter chilled bones
and weary spirits.
An offering.
May all beings be well and happy
May all beings be nourished.
May all beings be free.

Hours later, nary a breeze.
Moonlight through the clouds.
One by one,
I gathered lanterns that lined sidewalks
with candles diminishing lights.

Disassembled all,
elements
of sand
of paper bag lanterns and
of melted candle wax remains.

All was calm.
Precious quiet.
An intimate communion with the night,
invoking the Light.

May all beings be well and happy.
May all beings be nourished.
May all beings be free.
I welcome the Light!

May the path forward be bright for each and everyone
in this new year with an Aquarian twist!

These are sacred days. What is showing up for you on your path?
Life is magnified.
