Pisces Full Moon: Tension & Flow

August 25, 2018 By Jacqueline

“Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way.”
Joni Mitchell, Both Sides Now

Reality is relative. 200x300 - Pisces Full Moon: Tension & FlowFull Moon Pisces floats our boats
to drift and to dream,
to muse and be amused,
to wander and to wonder.

Limitless possibilities extend,
spill out and seep
into every direction
through multilayered realms
of impressions, sensations and imagination.

Reality is relative.
We need time for reflection
and listening and knowing what is true.

“I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all.”
Joni Mitchell, Both Sides Now

Pisces Full Moon 200x300 - Pisces Full Moon: Tension & FlowPisces Full Moon:
Tension & Flow

August 26, 2018 4:56 am PDT

Full Moon fruit of the eclipse seed. The tension and flow of this Pisces Moon is supported by a beautiful, grand earth trine: Virgo Sun, Capricorn Saturn and Taurus Uranus. Saturn and Uranus,  both retrograde in this trine, offer gifts when shifting into slow gear. Drop impatience and allow the incorporation of logic and intuition.  Creative possibilities are energized by the polarity of material and spiritual. Compassion softens criticism. Trade disappointment for an open door.

Mars in Capricorn has been retrograde since June 26. Now stationary (at a standstill as it “turns” direct), we absolutely have to fuse practicality and instinct. This lunation marks a turning point, even if it’s not time to leap ahead. Mars enters Aquarius on September 10 (the day after the Virgo New Moon on September 9, when I’ll be offering Sonic Tonic: Restorative Yoga with Tibetan Bowls.) and there will be more fuel for innovation. Use the time now for finishing up the business that you’ve set out to do.

“Compassion is the trembling or the quivering of the heart in response to suffering. Equanimity is a spacious stillness that can accept things as they are. The balance of compassion and equanimity allows us to care, and yet not get overwhelmed and unable to cope because of that caring.”  Pema Chodron

☽ Pisces Full Moon Inquiries ☼

Am I allowed to dream?

May I shine the light of compassion within? Why do I hold back?

How may I trust the bridge between my logical mind and my intuitive wisdom?

“You said, ‘The challenge of incorporating streams of new information into a foundation of unconscious beliefs is very stressful.’  I just have to express my opinion…. you are brilliant!  Seeing this in words is so helpful.  Having it identified and pulled through into consciousness where I can recognize it, is making me have a little ecstasy this morning.  Makes me really appreciate the power and usefulness of verbal communication.  Thank you for your skill in this area and sharing your insights with us!”  Elizabeth F.

Mysterious Blessing: the Butterfly on my Altar

August 21, 2018 By Jacqueline

On my way to the mailbox, I glimpsed a fat, striped caterpillar from the corner of my eye. It was stretched out on a milkweed leaf. Without hesitation, I pinched off the leaf along with the fat cat. I brought it inside and put it and a long stalk of milkweed in a large, empty pickle jar. Fresh in my mind were headlines I’d read that morning: West Coast Monarch Butterflies Flutter Toward Extinction. The milkweed plants in my garden had hosted Monarch caterpillars in previous years. This year there were none, until I discovered this wildling.

My new house guest. 300x232 - Mysterious Blessing: the Butterfly on my Altar

Delighted with my new house guest, I watched it devour the milkweed stalk. I searched online and read everything I could find about caring for Monarch caterpillars and butterflies.

I was so happy to have it here! It was exciting and intriguing to have this cute and curious wildlife inside my home.

The morning after next, the jar was empty. Oh no! My little visitor had gone traveling. I knew that it was looking for a place to pupate. I looked madly to find it, wondering… where would I go if I was a caterpillar? I didn’t want to step or sit on it! Throughout the day, between appointments, I resumed my search. One of my priorities that afternoon was to create a curriculum for a class on intuition. I sat at my altar and meditated. Later, I returned to the empty jar with sadness and then hunted for the little critter and then went back to work. Grrrr…

Daylight faded to sunset and with a sigh, I crawled on the floor and searched under my desk, a chair… where was it?!
There… on my altar, over 11 feet away from the empty jar – it was hanging on one of my Tibetan bowls. (The Tibetan bowls are antiquities. They are made by hand, with prayer. They are offering bowls. When they are played, they offer prayers through the resonant vibrations. )

In the classic “J” shape, it was attached to the side of the bowl by a silk button. Oh my!

The next day, it pupated. I returned home to find a fresh green gem of a chrysalis. Astounded and amazed, I watched and waited. After 10 days, it began to darken as the butterfly matured.

Soon, the orange and black veined wings could be seen through the transparent skin of the chrysalis.

On day 11, the chrysalis cracked open. A healthy male Monarch butterfly emerged with fragile and wet wings.

Monarch wings unfold. Mysterious Blessing the Butterfly on my Altar. 300x232 - Mysterious Blessing: the Butterfly on my AltarI was enraptured as I watched his wings unfold and grow. I was fascinated as he extended two thin wisps from his mouth and “zipped” them together to form his proboscis (the straw-like tube used for sipping nectar).

As he gained strength, he began to climb. (I didn’t know that the smooth metal of a Tibetan bowl was not the optimal surface, despite his sharp tarsel claws.) He made it up to the rim where he continued to dry his wings.

Several hours later, I brought him on my finger to go outside. It was a bit breezy, but the sun was shining.

Monarch butterfly on salvia. 225x300 - Mysterious Blessing: the Butterfly on my AltarHe clung to the salvia until he was ready. Then he took his first flight, up, up and away into the wild blue sky.

One caterpillar transformed into a butterfly which then led to another and of this writing I’ve released over 400 (8/26/2018 update: over 500. 10/14/2018 update: over 800). I’ve researched and studied about their lives. I’ve observed and listened as the butterflies have whispered their secrets to me.

Ubiquitous symbols of transformation, the reality of their lives is much more profound than we realize. The life cycle of a butterfly, from egg to winged creature, is a lifetime of constant metamorphosis and trusting in the unknown. Again and again, it must be patient with its vulnerability and trust its instincts. There is much we can learn from them.

There have been powerful experiences here when a client witnesses a caterpillar pupate or a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis during an astrological consultation or a tarot reading. Sometimes we release butterflies before or after our work together. Their beauty and the lightness of their flight is a precious experience for those who are in the depths of their own transformation.

“The reading from Jacqueline was a magical, transformative experience.” Tim T.

Leo Solar Eclipse: Audacity

August 10, 2018 By Jacqueline

“The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” Joseph Campbell

leo by julie dillon 205x300 - Leo Solar Eclipse: AudacityEclipse dilemma.
Too much.
Not enough.

Too timid.
Not enough confidence.

Too pompous.
Not enough humility.

Blazing fires scorch the land;
smoky haze obscures clarity and poisons the air.

In the face of fear,
it takes audacity to stand in your center and shine.

In the face of criticism,
it takes audacity to feel your vulnerability and open your heart.

In the uncertainty of life,
it takes audacity to look inside and be with your shadow self.

Vitality and power can rise despite a crippling shadow
or perhaps in credit to the shadow,
for without the shadow there is no light.

The struggle towards wholeness
includes trusting the creative sparks within
to develop the strength of center.

“Resist a shadow and it will become your nemesis, make peace with your shadow and you will become allies.” Jane Friesen

Solar Eclipse Leo
August 11, 2018 2:57 am PDT

Sound familiar? Cosmos continues to emphasize the lessons of shadow and light in the dramatic arena of Leo. In January, we experienced a total lunar eclipse in Leo. In 2017, we had a lunar eclipse in Leo and two new moons in Leo, of which the second was a Solar Eclipse. Now, as I wrote then: A Solar Eclipse changes the way we perceive the order of our lives. We see darkness where we depend on seeing light. The shadow is more obscure. The light is more brilliant. The grand display of contrast can accentuate a sharp focus of clarity.

A shadow is created by the Moon, voice of instinct and mystery of the unconscious. The seed of this new moon incorporates the shadow. Can we own the Leo courage to admit to denial as it is revealed? Are we willing to be awake to generous, creative and playful emergence? Full spectrum of Leo pride and personal power. As we release the denial we open to new life force and vitality.

“Finding the center of strength within ourselves is in the long run the best contribution we can make to our fellow men. … One person with indigenous inner strength exercises a great calming effect on panic among people around him. This is what our society needs — not new ideas and inventions; important as these are, and not geniuses and supermen, but persons who can be, that is, persons who have a center of strength within themselves.” Rollo May

What lights me up? What keeps me alive, what fuels me?

What is crushing my spark? Look into the shadow!

What am I afraid to face within my self?

What affirms and strengthens my powerful center?

Aquarius Lunar Eclipse: Free Your Wings

July 27, 2018 By Jacqueline

“Every Individual is an expression of the whole realm of nature, a unique action of the whole universe.” Alan Watts

Free your wings.png 200x300 - Aquarius Lunar Eclipse: Free Your WingsTake a leap and fly towards the sun,
the sky is a door.
Go and let go.
Freedom is not for the chosen few.

No patience for untangling the web.
Persistence of vision
through the labyrinth of mirrors.

The speed of light will free your wings
as you step into the unknown.
Go and let go.
Your breath and the universe are one.

“I’ll tell you right now, the doors to the world of the wild self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door; if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much that you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.” Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Lunar Eclipse Aquarius 200x300 - Aquarius Lunar Eclipse: Free Your WingsAquarius Lunar Eclipse
July 27, 2018 1:20 pm PDT

Eclipses are always a bit or a lot strange, eh? The irrational is enhanced and we find ourselves in a particularly unstable time. Emotions are aroused and seek expression, although there is rationalization, distancing or difficulty in expressing feelings and many are apt to “act out” rather than “feel in”. Impulsiveness runs high and perhaps there are a series of circumstances when caution is thrown into the wind and we just have to run with it.

The eclipse axis in air and fire may result in impatience and frustration as the “stop and go” quality of Mars and Mercury retrograde turns our attention to previously unconsidered paths of action or thought. This eclipse prompts a changing of minds.

Mars is opposite the Sun, a significant point of tension in the retrograde cycle, fueling strength, determination, anger and competition. Uranus squares both Mars and Sun at the eclipse and Mars reaches its exact square to Uranus by August 1st. It is a volatile and powerful time of extremes. BOOM!

Get the Mars transmission – go outside and see Mars in the night sky! It is at its brightest from July 27 to July 30. Mars comes closest to Earth every two years during the Mars retrograde cycle.

crisis (n.)
early 15c., crise, crisis, “decisive point in the progress of a disease,” also “vitally important or decisive state of things, point at which change must come, for better or worse,” from Latinized form of Greek krisis “turning point in a disease, that change which indicates recovery or death” (used as such by Hippocrates and Galen), literally “judgment, result of a trial, selection,” from krinein “to separate, decide, judge,” from PIE root *krei- “to sieve,” thus “discriminate, distinguish.”

☽ Aquarius Lunar Eclipse Seeds of Inquiry & Contemplation ☼

What are the doors that are opening in my life?

Where am I drawn to “break the rules” of my conditioning?

What is the identity or habit that I am shedding?

Note any recollections about the summers of 1999 and 1980, as previous lunar eclipses at the same degree in Aquarius were July 28, 1999, July 27, 1980.

“Just wanted to thank you again for doing such a great chart for me and taking so much time to explain it in depth. It was enormously helpful in all ways.” Margaret W.

Solar Eclipse Cancer: Confrontation

July 12, 2018 By Jacqueline

“I want to feel both the beauty and the pain of the age we are living in. I want to survive my life without becoming numb. I want to speak and comprehend words of wounding without having these words becoming the landscape where I dwell. I want to possess a light touch that can elevate darkness to the realm of stars.” Terry Tempest Williams

shaping spirit by Debra Bernier 300x300 - Solar Eclipse Cancer: ConfrontationMoon shadows the Sun.
The edges of power
and powerlessness,
the haves and have-nots.
Conflict and struggle
brings awareness…
or numbness and avoidance.

“Edges are important because they define a limitation in order to deliver us from it. When we come to an edge we come to a frontier that tells us that we are now about to become more than we have been before. As long as one operates in the middle of things, one can never really know the nature of the medium in which one moves.” William Irwin Thompson, The Time Falling Bodies Take to Light

Each of us holds the seeds
to nurture and grow
beyond the limitations of fear.

We must seed this new cycle
with sensitivity and emotional attunement.
There are further challenges ahead.
Now is our time to affirm a place for nourishment, nurturing and inner security.

“With our actions every day, and just by being our truest self, we are a conduit of possibilities for others. Just by living the best lives we can, the kindest, the most compassionate, we have done something to sustain and illuminate a path to freedom.” Sharon Salzberg

A Solar Eclipse changes the way we perceive the order of our lives.

In the sign of Cancer this may manifest as hiding in a shell of self-protection while avoiding what needs to be seen. Dysfunctional nostalgia. Feelings of being threatened or thwarted.

Saros Cycles: Series of Eclipses

In the grand cosmos of magnificent and mysterious design, a solar eclipse is not an isolated event. The Babylonians discovered that each eclipse is part of a larger pattern spanning over a thousand years. The Solar Eclipse of July 12, 2018 is in the Saros Series 2 Old North. Recent dates in this cycle include July 1, 2000, June 21, 1982, June 10, 1964 and May 30, 1946.

The first eclipse in this series was June 24, 792 (not a typo – yes, 792!) This partial eclipse is the next-to-the-last eclipse before the series ends in 2036. Here we have an Saros Series (nearing the completion of its cycle) that has a theme of separations and endings in relationships. This theme resonates on a worldwide basis, as refugee families are torn asunder. The world history of domination and greed is an old story. The trauma resonates through our collective bones. The world is getting smaller. It’s time for compassionate consciousness to grow larger and evolve anew.

Pluto, “Lord of the Underworld” is exactly opposite this eclipse, bringing a quality of ruthless confrontation to the themes life and death. There is power in persistence and in knowing when to let go. Unconscious needs are intensified. A significant time for revealing inner motivations.

☽ Cancer Solar Eclipse Seeds of Inquiry & Contemplation ☼

What are the life-defeating memories I cling to?

What are the old stories that undermine me?

Spit out the poison. Drink from a nourishing cup.

What part of my life needs nourishment, care and attention?

Can I ask for help?

Each present moment is an ever arising opportunity to discern the validity of our instincts, our gut level intelligence and make conscious choices from a place of integrity.
