Everything changes,
Everything changes,
Nothing is set in stone.


We’re in a complex turning of directions,
not a one-way street.

This year we seem to move forward,
only to backtrack, reassess,
and align our actions
with new information or circumstances.

However it shakes out,
We will be forever changed.

Different elements, values,
ideas and cultures
are coming together
and being influenced by another.

It may seem unreal,
like a dream.

 

Whose dream are you dreaming?

Whose dream are you believing?

The collective dreams are the underpinning.
Don’t ignore the subtleties.
Yes, it is confusing,
leaning towards numbing out,
stumbling into deceptions and falsehoods,
mesmerized and addictive…

(reflected by Neptune (in late Pisces) conjunct the Lunar North Node in aspect to the upcoming Venus retrograde).

Don’t get sucked into a downward spiral! Give yourself quiet time to tune into your center and clear away the distractions that weigh you down and sap your strength and vitality. Soothe yourself with movement and touch; with music and song; feast your eyes on beautiful flowers and the vibrant, living green. Gather with friends and community.

Leo Full Moon
February 12, 2025, 5:52 am PST

In the days leading up to the full moon, Sun and Mercury conjunct in Aquarius on February 9 (clarity and the ability to articulate new awareness). The next day, February 10, Mercury squares Uranus, followed by Sun square Uranus on February 11. The next morning, on February 12, the Moon moves into place, creating a full moon with Moon, Sun and Mercury squaring Uranus (a T-square in astrological parlance).

We’re in for a shock. Uranus is known for unexpected disruptions and often crisis. Rapid change. At the very least, it will be tense. Considering that the full moon is in Leo, I don’t expect it to be understated. More likely dramatic fireworks.

Also note, Mars (Cancer) is still retrograde, slowing down until it stations direct on February 23. Still moving slowly until it picks up the pace after March 9.

There’s more ahead… to be continued. Stay attuned to what is life-giving and not what is draining your life force.

Storm surge, high tide,
seeking security in turbulent waters.
Clinging to a rock in the oceanic mysteries,
buffeted by agitated and fluctuating waves.

Cautious and impatient
is a strange dynamic for change.
Opposing currents create turbulence,
conflict riptide intensity.
Is there no repose? Then go with the flow.

Stay awake.
Respect your gut intelligence,

Cancer Full Moon – Nourish

The Moon is in its home sign of Cancer, emotions are running high, overflowing. Mars retrograde in the mix, closely aligned with the Moon, heightens awareness of our own suffering, empathy for other’s suffering, and the urge take action, to do something. Emotions run into overdrive with irritability, anger and willfulness. Impulsivity is not all bad, watch your step. Perhaps it is the kick-start you need.

Moon in Cancer opposite Sun in Capricorn highlights caution and security… and just reading the news headlines these days rattles anxieties and fears!

The tension of this lunation spills out in to the month with these notable oppositions to Mars retrograde in Cancer:

1/15 Sun opposite Mars retrograde is the tense half way point in Mars retro cycle that started 12/6. Once again irritability, aggression, and confrontation often arise, but take note of what your emotions are showing you about who you think you are, what you’re fighting for or your attitude.

1/23 Mercury opposite Mars retrograde: arguments and fights, hot-headed, impulsive communication. Hasty judgments or keen insights. Notice and change compulsive thoughts.

All these oppositions are an opportunity to get to know ourselves, our feelings and how we’re coming across to others.

Who drives the wheel…
courage or doubt?  

Mars has shifted gears,
now driving in reverse.

We’re looking through
the rear window…

Wondering, questioning… what happened?

Things move slowly
when we think they should move quickly.

We must deal with the past in order to go forward.
Be patient, gather strength and persist.

Mars Retrograde December 6, 2024 – February 23, 2025

Mars has been nearly at a standstill – only moving about 1° in the past two weeks. It stationed retrograde at 6° 10′ Leo on Friday, December 6, 2024 and will resume direct course on February 23, 2025 at 17° Cancer.  All in all, Mars will be retrograde in Leo for a month and in Cancer for a one and a half months.

Consider where (what houses) Leo and Cancer are in your birth chart… be aware of will, motivation and power dynamics.

Mars retrograde is a good time to revisit old projects that have been on the back burner, rather than initiating new ventures. Unresolved family issues and buried feelings can no longer be ignored. This winter is a good time to focus on personal growth and healing.

We must deal with the past in order to go forward.

Mars is the driving force of will, initiative, and assertion within each one of us. It is the passion that moves us forward in the world. Physical vitality and the ability (or inability) to express anger and rage, the Mars dynamic is not about thought or analysis. Mars is action. Courage, aggression, fighting spirit, and willpower pushing forward. Be aware of irritability, obsessiveness and over extension. Procrastination, fatigue, impulsive actions, spinning wheels. Anger. Passive/aggressive behaviors. Mars emphasizes self-hood (or selfishness), division, and separation.

Many people feel pushed to take sides.

Pluto in Aquarius

As Mars was slowing down a couple of weeks ago, Pluto entered Aquarius (a big deal since it will be in Aquarius until early 2043). Pluto is the higher octave of Mars (elevating the theme of POWER from personal to collective) and the timing of this Mars retrograde accents the acceleration of our awareness of Pluto in its nascent expression of Aquarius. We are seeing headlines from all around the world: major shifts in who holds power, who is fighting for power in global and societal structures. Innovation in technology, social division, and elitism. So much is changing so quickly, it’s difficult to keep track. This is only the beginning.

Collective shift. Grass-roots activism.
New forms of community emerge.

January 3, 2025 retrograde
April 26, 2025 post-retrograde

Note: this aspect usually happens once every two years, but with the retrograde we experience Mars opposite Pluto 3X in about six months. On the cusp of endings and beginnings.
Now is the time…
to invoke the wisdom
and strength of our ancestors.

Between worlds.
The richness of harvest
and the increasing darkness.
The call to pause
